About us

PHAB began in 2007 to provide a unified voice for all primary Headteachers in the City of Bristol. Since then it has grown in membership and influence and the Association has never been more important than now. In changing times we provide a positive organisation for all Heads to share and support each other as we continue to strive to improve outcomes for children in Bristol.

The Association has over 100 members, who actively support its aims of:
  • Providing a professional network and discussion forum;
  • Giving primary heads in the City a united, independent and strong voice;
  • Supporting leadership development;
  • Working in partnership with the Local Authority;
  • Identifying goals.

All of this is achieved through regular meetings of the whole Association, an annual leadership conference, co-ordinated attendance at National Leadership events and the work of the Executive Committee. This makes PHAB a very effective body that has a direct input to Local Authority policy and decisions.

PHAB is also affiliated to NPH, the National Primary Headteachers association (see link in further information panel).
